OUR CURRICULUM
OUR CURRICULUM
At Teena's Family Childcare our approach is self-paced, allowing every child to develop and progress at their own rate. It emphasizes that all learning is connected and builds on simple to complex, concrete to abstract concepts. Many of the activities have a control of error built into them, promoting self-correction, independence, and confidence.
We believe children learn best when they are actively engaged with their environment. Our curriculum focuses on the whole child-cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. We allow time each day for student led activities, as well as teacher guided learning. Teena's Family Childcare utilizes a combination of two different curriculum's. The foundation of our teaching comes from the ABC Mouse curriculum that guides all instruction from our infant through our preschool classrooms. We also incorporate elements of The Creative Curriculum®, which is NAEYC accredited and emphasizes that optimal learning takes place through play, exploration, and discovery. In planning our lessons and learning objectives, we adhere to North Carolina's Early Childhood Indicators of Progress (ECIPs) that provide developmentally appropriate expectations, aligning our instruction to meet these standards for school readiness. Not only will your child learn reading and writing readiness, they will also be exposed to a variety of creative opportunities and learn many practical life skills.
